Kamal Ahuja | Scientific and Managing Director
Kamal Ahuja gained his PhD at Cambridge under the supervision of Professor Robert Edwards, which sparked his lasting interest in clinical IVF. The ethics of IVF and its cost effectiveness continue to be part of his research interests. Dr Ahuja is Chairman of Reproductive BioMedicine Online, an international medical journal, and the Scientific and Managing Director of the London Women's Clinic Group.
Mimi Arian Schad | Nurse Manager
Mimi Arian-Schad has been with the LWC since 2005 and is now the Person Responsible to the HFEA and Head of Nursing in London. Mimi completed her nursing qualifications at Guy’s Hospital and is qualified as an Operating Theatre and Fertility Nurse Specialist. She is a member of the LWC's clinical governance team.
Matey Andonov | Head of Embryology and Chief Scientist
Matey Andonov, our Visiting Head of Embryology and Chief Scientist, is an exceptionally experienced infertility specialist, having qualified both as a medical doctor and a scientist. Dr Andonov has worked at some of the top IVF laboratories in the world, including labs in Chicago, Varna, Jeddah, Tel Aviv, Swansea and Darlington. He is widely praised for his research in embryology, his supervision of many juniors and his methodical approach to achieving consistently outstanding IVF and ICSI results.
Peter Bowen-Simpkins | Medical Director
Peter Bowen-Simpkins is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Medical Director of the London Women’s Clinic Group. He qualified from Cambridge University and Guy’s Hospital Medical School and obtained the Hancock Prize for Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons. After completing his training in London, he was appointed to a consultant post in Swansea. His main interests have been fertility, the menopause and menstrual disorders. He was on the Council of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists for 13 years, the latter seven as the Honorary Treasurer. He is a Trustee of Wellbeing of Women and is a spokesman for both the College and the charity. He is a regular broadcaster and lectures all over the UK and abroad. Currently he is also the Honorable Treasurer of the Royal Medical Benevolent Fund.
Ajit Gill | Consultant Gynaecologist and IVF Specialist
Ajit Gill is a Consultant Gynaecologist and IVF Specialist and has over 15 years experience in fertility and assisted reproduction and specialises in infertility and IVF. She graduated from the Lady Harding Medical College, New Dehli and received her MBBS in 1978. She is a Fellow at the Royal Colleague of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Before moving to the LWC, she worked at the Cromwell Hospital from 1994.
Giuseppina Lamanna | Consultant Gynaecologist and IVF Specialist
Giuseppina Lamanna is a Consultant Gynaecologist and IVF Specialist who trained in her homeland of Italy before moving to London as a research fellow for two years, with interests in reproductive medicine. Dr Lamanna has written a number of academic papers on infertility, with particular interest in polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometrial receptivity and embryo implantation. At the LWC London her areas of special interest are 3D gynaecological ultrasound and reproductive medicine.
Shailaja Nair | Deputy Clinical Director
Shailaja Nair is Deputy Clinical Director of the LWC and has more than 20 years experience in fertility and assisted reproduction. Before joining the LWC, she worked as Associate Professor in a large teaching hospital and at the Cromwell IVF programme before joining the LWC in 1993. Dr Nair has extensive experience in all aspects of assisted conception, with a special interest in the egg-sharing and gamete donation programmes. She is the Person Responsible to the HFEA for the LWC programme in Darlington.
David Williams | Chairman
David Williams is the Chairman of the London Women's Clinic Group. He has spent his career in healthcare management. His initial training was at the King's Fund in London. Following this his career allowed him to work not only in the UK but also in a variety of overseas locations working in both the public and commercial sectors. In the late 80s he returned to his native Wales where he became Chief Executive of one of the largest NHS organisations in the country. He was awarded an OBE for "Services to Healthcare in Wales" in 2000.
