Ova magazine

It's been a busy year for the London Women's Clinic(s) and much of what's been happening is reported in our latest issue of 'Ova' magazine.

It was an honour for the whole field of reproduction that the ‘father of IVF’, Robert Edwards, was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine in October 2010. Bob was a founding scientific director of the LWC and we warmly congratulate him on this much deserved and long overdue honour.

This has also been another momentous year for the London Women’s Clinic; 2009 saw a rising number of patients being treated at the LWC and an equally steady climb in our success rates.

Figures released last year by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) showed the LWC’s Harley Street centre was rated in the top three amongst all UK licensed clinics in terms of IVF success in women up to the age of 35. One innovation which we are now incorporating is a new ultra-rapid freezing technique known as vitrification, which has helped improve the outcome of ‘frozen’ IVF cycles in many studies. We are also taking part in what will be one of the world’s major trials in embryo selection using the latest means of genetic analysis.

You will find information about this and manymore developments at the LWC’s clinics in this issue of ‘Ova’, which we hope you enjoy.
