We provide the complete spectrum of pregnancy scans, whether you’ve opted for private maternity care or to have your baby on the NHS. You may want an early pregnancy scan for reassurance, a Wellbeing scan to check how your baby is growing, a 4D scan, or you may want to know the sex of your baby, or you require a detailed screening for a chromosomal abnormality such as Down Syndrome. Whatever your requirement, we have highly skilled sonographers and expert fetal medicine specialists here to give you the highest quality of care and support you as your pregnancy progresses.

The first scan available to you during your pregnancy is the Early Pregnancy Scan, often carried out if you are not sure if you are pregnant or if you want to be provided with reassurance at the early stage of your pregnancy. This scan is not normally available on the NHS, and is carried out by our expert fetal medical specialists.

A 12 Week Dating or Nuchal Scan can be performed at any point between 11 and 14 weeks of pregnancy, and can provide reassurance to parents given that the majority of miscarriages typically occur before this stage. An accurate due date can also be provided thanks to this scan, as well as an early assessment of possible cardiac risks for the baby too.

The Anomaly Scan is usually performed at 18-22 weeks of the pregnancy, and is done to assess your baby’s heart, brain, spine, and several other important organs to determine if any rare conditions are present. This detailed anatomy scan checks your baby’s growth, and can also determine your baby’s gender should you wish.

The Growth/ Fetal Wellbeing Scan is carried out to give parents peace of mind about their baby’s development, particularly reassuring for parents who have experienced pregnancy complications in the past. It measures your baby’s head and abdominal circumference as well as femur length in order to chart the baby’s size and weight throughout the pregnancy.

If you’re too eager to wait for the big day, a baby gender scan can be performed between 18-22 weeks to let you know the gender of your baby. As long as the sonographer performing the scan has been given a clear view of your baby’s genitals, you’ll receive the result of the scan during your appointment.

In order to determine if you’re at risk of having a premature delivery, a Cervical Length Scan is carried out to look at the length and widening of the cervix internally. It can provide insight into what happens when your cervix is put under pressure, like when you cough, and can help your midwife or obstetrician decide whether or not you’d need further treatment later on.

A Group B Strep Screen and Growth Scan is used to screen for the presence of harmful bacteria that could be potentially harmful or cause life-threatening infections in new-born babies. Babies would usually come into contact with GBS during delivery, and therefore knowing if it is present will help your obstetrician and consultant create a safe plan for your birth.

Pregnancy Follow Up Scans are typically carried out after a delivery or miscarriage, where there has been unexplained bleeding in the weeks following. The scan is done to examine whether or not any remaining tissue is present in the womb and assess what needs to be done in order to remove it. There are no risks associated with having a Pregnancy Follow Up Scan and it is not harmful or painful.

One of the most in-depth and insightful scans on offer to expecting parents is a 4D Scan, allowing you to bond with your baby in real time. You can watch them grow and progress thanks to moving images in the form of a video that you can take home with you and share with family and friends.
