Professor Nick Macklon, Medical Director

Professor Macklon is a world-renowned expert in reproductive medicine. He has held professorships at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands, the University of Southampton and the University of Copenhagen. He is co-founder of the Complete Fertility Centre clinic in Southampton, and a member of the Executive Committee of the European Society of Human Reproduction.

Mimi Arian Schad, Director of Nursing and HFEA Person Responsible

Mimi has been with the LWC since 2005 and is the Director of Nursing and Person Responsible to the HFEA for the LWC Harley Street. Mimi completed her nursing qualifications at Guy’s Hospital and is qualified as an operating theatre and fertility nurse specialist. She is a member of the LWC's clinical governance team.

Elena Linara-Demakakou, Lab Manager and Quality Lead

Elena Linara-Demakakou is the Embryology Manager at London Women's Clinic, Harley Street with 15 years' experience in Reproductive Science. She is an experienced Senior Embryologist and a Diplomate of the Royal College of Pathologists. She works hard to ensure the highest success rates, but above all, the best care and service to patients. She has special interest in embryo morphokinetics and prenatal genetics and egg freezing. She is highly engaged with research and has presented her work in both national and international meetings. She is the Scientific Training Programme lead for London Women's Clinic, and has been one of the first private IVF labs that gained a licence from NSHCS to train STP trainees for Reproductive Science.

Dr Antonios Sfakianakis, Fertility Specialist Consultant

After graduating from Athens Medical School in 2009 and completing his training in Alexandra University Hospital, Dr Sfakianakis joined the UK GMC Specialist Register as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in 2019. Alongside his subspecialist qualifications in managing infertility, Dr Sfakianakis has a special interest in endometriosis, and holds a Master’s Degree in the management of high risk pregnancies. Through his work at London Women’s Clinic he hopes to raise awareness about women’s fertility and empower women to explore their reproductive choices.

Dr Barbara Manukian, Fertility Specialist Consultant

Dr Barbara Manukian is a highly experienced gynaecologist and obstetrician, trained in Universidad de Chile. After working as a consultant in gynaecological ultrasound Units in Santiago, she moved to London to work in reproductive medicine. Dr Manukian joined LWC in August 2021 and has a special interest in fertility preservation , single motherhood, and same-sex couples. She is also passionate about patient support during throughout their treatment.

Dr Melissa Brain, Gynaecologist and Obstetrician

Melissa Brain is a highly experienced Gynaecologist and Obstetrician. She obtained her medical degree at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Peru before completing her postgraduate training in Barcelona. Dr Brain has worked as a fertility specialist in both public and private centres in Spain since 2013, before she joined LWC in 2023.
