After years and years of being told I wouldn’t be able to have children of my own or even carry a baby because of premature ovarian failure me and my partner Dan decided we were ready to have fertility treatment. I always wanted a family. It was my dream!
Luckily, we were accepted for NHS funding and we were recommended the London Women’s Clinic by my NHS consultant. Because of premature ovarian failure, our only option to have a baby of our own was to have IVF with donor eggs. When we had our first appointment I was so excited it was like a dream!! I couldn’t believe it was the start of our miracle baby.
All the staff were amazing and so supportive. We both felt so cared for. Mimi the head of nursing at the LWC Harley Street clinic was such an amazing lady. She helped us every step of the way through our journey and I really can’t thank her enough. She would email me back and forth throughout the whole process. She gave us hope. Everything ran so smoothly. Our journey really was amazing!
On the day of the embryo transfer I was so nervous but so excited at the same time. Everyone made me feel so relaxed! Following the transfer, I was told the date of my pregnancy test which was around 12 days later.
Those two weeks felt like the longest two weeks ever! I just kept thinking it’s not going to work after being told for so many years that I couldn’t have a baby. The day came, and I took the test. It was positive! It was so unreal!! I cried! I laughed!! I honestly didn’t know what to do with myself! We felt so lucky.
We were then invited in for an early pregnancy scan to check everything was going ok and that’s when I knew it was real. Hearing our baby’s heartbeat for the first time was just magic!! The staff that day were amazing!! My partner Dan and his mum came with us too. We were so pleased that she was able to share this special moment with us. We were all so happy.
Throughout my pregnancy the London Women’s Clinic kept in contact with us and were always about if I ever had any questions.
On 24th July Isaac William David was born! It was the happiest day of our lives. It really felt like a miracle had happened!! Isaac is now 19 months old and we are loving every minute of being his Mummy and Daddy. He is so special to us. He is such a fun and loving little boy!! Such a character and we really do love him to bits!!
