The London Women’s Clinic has been treating single women for over a decade and currently almost a third of patients in our London clinic are single women. We see women at all stages of their fertility journeys from women interested in finding out more about their fertility to those considering egg freezing or treatment with donor sperm.
Fertility MOT
A Fertility MOT consists of an Anti Mullerian Hormone (AMH) blood test; a transvaginal ultrasound to check the health of the uterus and to take an antral-follicle count; and a detailed consultation with a fertility specialist. These tests will provide accurate information on a woman’s current fertility and thereby help her to make better informed plans for her future.
Egg freezing
Egg freezing is a revolutionary technology that allows mature eggs to be frozen and stored for later use. Since we know that a woman’s fertility – including her ovarian reserve and egg quality – declines with age, elective or “social” egg freezing offers one option to those wishing to conceive later.
Treatment with donor sperm
Single women wishing to conceive with donor sperm will either be recommended to try Donor Insemination or IVF. In both cases, our patients are able to select a sperm donor of their choice via our sister company the London Sperm Bank’s online catalogue without any waiting list.
Legal advice
While single women in the UK have the same rights of parenthood as others, we still recommend appropriate legal advice prior to treatment. This will hopefully prevent any future difficulties arising regarding parenthood and citizenship. Indeed, the legal implications of conceiving with donor sperm can be complex, particularly for single women.
