What is AMH and why should I test it?
Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) is a hormone produced within the ovaries, more specifically in the walls of the small follicles that contain your developing eggs. As we age, we lose several follicles each month and this process generally speeds up as we go into our mid-thirties. We see the same decline in our AMH levels, and we therefore use this as a strong indicator into how much of your ovarian reserve remains. We hope that by giving you a window to your fertility levels, you are in a better position to make informed decisions about your future.
How much does it cost?
Our AMH Home Testing Kit costs £150. This includes your test kit, an instruction manual, a lab sample request form, a pre-paid return envelope and a personalised results report. Once the lab has received your sample, you should receive your results report via email within 3-5 days.
How does it work?
1. Order your test kit
Register your details and make the payment. Your test kit will be posted to you
in discrete packaging and will usually arrive within 3-5 days.
2. Take your sample
Your test kit will contain everything you need to take a pin-prick
blood sample, including and easy to follow instruction guide.
Once your sample has been collected, simply pop it in the post
using our pre-paid envelope and our laboratory will text you to
confirm they've received it safely. Please remember to include the
enclosed lab sample request form otherwise we will not be able to
test your sample.
3. View your report
Once we have received and analysed your blood sample,
a personalised report will be emailed to you.
FAQs
How long will it take for my test kit to be delivered?
Once we’ve received your order, your test kit will be shipped by Royal Mail 1st Class and you should receive it within 3-5 days.
How will I receive my personalised results report?
Your report will be sent to you via email within 3-5 days of the lab receiving your sample.
What if my sample can’t be analysed?
Not to worry – we’ll let you know if there are any issues with your sample and we will send out another test kit free of charge. Make sure you follow the instruction guide carefully. Top tip: stand up when filling up the sample tube and allow gravity to help, also don’t squeeze your finger!
Will the AMH blood test tell me if I am able to conceive naturally?
Unfortunately, there aren’t any tests that will determine whether you will conceive naturally. The AMH blood test will give you a strong indicator about your ovarian reserve and this is a great starting point when looking at your future options.
What if I want to freeze my eggs or undergo fertility treatment to conceive?
Once you have the result of your AMH blood test, you can book an initial consultation package with one of our fertility specialists. Using the results of the blood test, scan and also the details of your medical history, they will be able to advise you on your options and how to proceed. If you are considering treatment using partner sperm, we would book a semen analysis, too!
I’m currently on hormonal contraception, will this affect my AMH test result?
Hormonal contraception can affect the result of your AMH. If you are currently using any hormonal contraception, the recommendation would be to wait for 1 regular period or around 3 months from stopping contraception to allow your hormones to rebalance before carrying out the blood test. If your AMH test results come back lower than average, you may wish to schedule a consultation with specialist to discuss whether you should remove your contraception and repeat the AMH blood test at a later date.
